Professor Cunningham and his Old School (USA)
Take a growling horn section, a grooving and soulful rhythm section, a woodwind virtuoso/vocalist frontman, add the soul of a New Orleans party, and you've got Professor Cunningham and his Old School. This 6 piece piece band performs the most swinging and grooving repertoire deeply steeped in the New Orleans tradition; from early jazz to early R&B— the likes of Sidney Bechet, Fats Waller, even Fats Domino! It is one of the most sought after Hot Jazz Bands on the international Lindy Hop scene.
The group was the winner of the 2016 international Swing Band Competition The WorldJam, held in Madrid, taking out prizes for Best Band, Best Horn Section and Best Rhythm Section. The group was formed 2 years ago by in-demand reedman Adrian Cunningham, an Australian native based in NYC, and one of his home country's finest jazz exports. The ensemble consists of some of the most energetic and accomplished musicians on the New York circuit, and has been a regular hit in the NYC underground party and swing dance scene; performing at some of the city's finest speakeasy shows (Shanghai Mermaid, Gemini and Scorpio) and regularly performing to packed houses at some of the city's best swing venues (BB Kings, Cutting Room, Swing 46, The Back Room).
They have also performed many major events worldwide including Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Illawa Jazz Festival (Poland), CPLX (Copenhagen), New York Hot Jazz Festival and Albany Jazz Festival. Snowball Swing Festival (Sweden 2014, 2015) Copenhagen Lindy Exchange (Copenhagen 2015) Melbourne International Jazz Festival (2015), Albany Jazz Festival (2015) San Lois Obispo Lindy Exchange (California 2015) New York Hot Jazz Festival (2014), Sopot Molo Jazz Festival (2014), World Jam (Madrid 2015), Princeton Jazz Festival (2016), Boston Tea Party Dance (2016), Smokey Feet (Amsterdam 2016).
Professor Cunningham and his Old School is like a New Orleans party, without the hangover.

The Shirt Tail Stompers have quickly been recognised as one of Europe's best social dance bands.
